JUNIOR doctors in Bolton will go ahead with a strike next week after talks between the Government and the British Medical Association failed to reach a solution.
However, union bosses have said that striking doctors will provide emergency cover during the action — a step back from the planned full walk-out.
The original plan for action would have seen medics across the country — including at The Royal Bolton Hospital — not providing emergency care between the hours of 8am and 5pm in a move that would have caused major disruption.
But the BMA said it wants to minimise the impact of the strike and has said emergency care will be available.
But the strike will last longer than originally planned, with doctors walking out for a full 24 hours.
Junior doctors at The Royal Bolton Hospital walked out last month as part of an ongoing row about new contracts that the Government wants to impose.
