POLICE hunting a burglar who posed as a window cleaner have released an e-fit of a man they want to speak to.

It is hoped people will recognise the individual who is connected to one of two distraction burglaries in Broadstone Road, Bradshaw, on June 7.

An 88-year-old resident was in his front garden at 3.45pm when he was approached by a man who was asked whether he needed a window cleaner and asked to use the man's toilet.

The victim invited him in but he left through the front door with a set of keys for the victim's red Seat Leon and a wallet, which was later found in Wigan.

A short time later the man returned to the property and stole the Seat Leon parked on the driveway.

Investigating officer PC David Charnock, of GMP’s Bolton borough, said: "This offender preyed on the victim, taking advantage of his kindness and stealing his possessions just a short distance away from him.

"Burglaries can have devastating consequences on the victim’s, leaving them not only with the financial difficulties but also psychological trauma.

“If you know someone who fits the description of the man or recognises the man in the e-fit, please get in touch with us.”

The man in the e-fit is described as white, between 25 and 30 years old and with short black hair and tanned skin.

He had a short, unshaven beard and was wearing black shorts and a grey sweat top.

This burglary happened about half an hour after a man knocked at the door of another house in Broadstone Road and asked the occupant, an elderly woman, if she wanted her windows cleaning.

She agreed and he started the job but went back into the house and asked for a glass of water.

While the victim was getting the water, he stole the woman’s purse and fled.

PC Charnock previously advised: "Never allow an unsolicited tradesman into your house and be careful of who you allow to have access to your property."

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
