A MAN was attacked with a meat cleaver during a brutal assault in Bolton.

The assault occurred following a confrontation between a man and two other men at an address in Goldrill Avenue, Breightmet, shortly after 9pm on Wednesday, Sepetmber 22.

The lone man was attacked by the other two men, leaving him with leg and head injuries.

Police believe that a weapon used in the attack was a meat cleaver.

The ambulance service confirmed that they were called to a private address in Goldrill Avenue at 9.03pm on Wednesday, September 22 and that a patient was taken by ambulance to Royal Bolton Hospital.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman confirmed: “Shortly after 9:05pm on Wednesday 21 September 2016, it was reported to police that there had been a confrontation between a man and two other men on Goldrill Avenue, Breightmet.

“Following a verbal exchange, the two men attacked the first man. It is believed that one of them used a meat cleaver as a weapon during the attack, leaving the man with injuries to his leg and head.

“An investigation has been launched and enquiries are on-going.”
