A WOMAN from Bolton has been running her own stall in Manchester Christmas Markets for the past 16 years.
Amy Gibbings, aged 47, from Bromley Cross, chose Manchester city centre as the best place to unleash her creativity and show people her work through her pictures.
Miss Gibbings, specialises in architectural urban photography mainly around the Manchester area but she also sells images of New York, Paris, Rome, Barcelona, Venice and Prague.
Miss Gibbings said: “I still use film and hand print my images in my darkroom.
"I shoot exclusively in black and white.
“I started doing a few different markets around the northwest but found I sold best in the city centre.”
Miss Gibbings did a degree in photography at what was Manchester Polytechnic then lectured in photography at Bury College for 12 years before going freelance
The mother-of-two added: “My mum helps me out. I couldn't manage with two children without family support.
“The markets are getting bigger each year.
"I love the atmosphere.
"The friends I have made, both other stall holders and my customers.
"You can get all your Christmas shopping from small local businesses here, it's not all food and drink.”
People interested in Amy Gibbings Photography can find her stall on Exchange Street in Manchester outside the Royal Exchange Theatre from 10am until 7.30 pm daily until December 20.
However, they can still get the chance to buy some of Gibbings’ work all year long from her website and also catch her up in some summer markets as well.
