MORE than 300 people helped to raise money for dementia research.

Our Donate £1 for Dementia campaign in partnership with Bolton NHS Charitable Fund is on the road to raising £200,000 to pay for dementia-friendly facilities at the Royal Bolton Hospital.

Last month Bolton Parish Church welcomed a full house of musicians and spectators in aid of the campaign.

The Annual Booth’s Music Christmas Concert on December 17 welcomed more than 300 people for an evening of carols and songs performed by pupils and tutors from Booth’s.

Colin Liptrot, of Booth’s Music, described a ‘heart-warming’ atmosphere in the church. He added: “Favourite family-friendly carols echoed through the hall as performed by the orchestra and choir.

“Many popular numbers made an appearance, including a very dramatic rendition of Stop The Cavalry from a group of percussionists and a moving piece, “Eastern Star”, written by violin tutor Matt Haigh, had the audience in awe.

“There were also short sets by two of the Live Zone rock bands, the Booth’s Music choir and a mixed guitar ensemble.”

Bolton NHS Foundation Trust fundraising manager Andy Lee and his team raised around £50 from donations by the audience.

The Donate £1 for Dementia Campaign is urging families, schools, business and groups across Bolton to donate at least £1 to the appeal.
