TRAVELLERS moved on to a playing field in Sharples yesterday.
Up to ten caravans and vehicles were driven on to the land off East Grove Avenue.
Resident, David Wrennall said: “I am very annoyed. This land is a public amenity which is used as a playing field for children and is also used by football teams. People walk their dogs on there and runners use it too. It is an amenity which has been invaded.”
A spokesman for Bolton Council said: “We do everything we can to remove travellers from public land as quickly as possible, using the powers we have available.
“We are liaising with the police and we have served the travellers with directions to leave. If they do not leave, we will apply for a court summons.”
