PLANS to create a cattery in the middle of a housing estate have been objected to by councillors.
The application is for four 'studio pods' in the back garden of a property in Waters Nook Road, Westhoughton.
The pods would be used to accommodate cats on a 'short-term basis'.
But Westhoughton Town Council has recommended the proposal for refusal, believing it not to be an appropriate development in a residential estate.
Cllr Gill Williams said: "It is a business in a house in a residential estate.
"I do not think it is a good idea on the whole. But I do find this very difficult because it should not cause any trouble.
"But running a business in your back garden — there are bound to be some problems to the neighbours.
"I do not like to knock people back who are trying to start a business but I do not thing it is in a suitable place."
The council voted to object to the plans.
The application will ultimately be decided by Bolton Council's planning office.
