PEOPLE are being warned to expect widespread disruption as Storm Eleanor hit the area.
Strong winds have hit Bolton this morning and are expected to carry on into this evening.
The Met Office currently has a yellow weather warning in place until 6pm for the area and is warning that public transport may be disrupted or cancelled.
It is also advising that there may be power cuts and disruption to mobile phone coverage.
There is also the possibility of injuries due to flying debris and people are being urged to be on their guard.
Some areas of the country are being faced with winds of up to 100mph.
