A BOLTON GP practice has received a gold award for excellence in lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) healthcare.

Staff at Heaton Medical Centre, Lucy Street, recently took part in LGBT Foundation’s primary care quality assurance service — Pride in Practice.

The service provides training for staff on how to support their LGBT patients.

The award recognises changes made to provide better care for patients, like making sure trans patients have cancer screenings and introducing sexual orientation monitoring.
