A 46-YEAR-OLD man was rescued from Rivington Pike at 4.30am on Sunday.
Bolton Mountain Rescue Team was called out to help the man, who was believed to be intoxicated and suffering from hypothermia.
Paramedics had been called out earlier but could not gain access to the summit due to a padlocked gate on the access track.
A paramedic walked up to the top of the summit to treat the man and waited for the mountain rescue team to open the gate.
The man was given a blanket and taken by Land Rover to a waiting ambulance. He was taken to Royal Bolton Hospital at about 5.30am.
It is thought he had been on Rivington Pike since 3.30pm.
