BIKER Mick Hall became an expert on the temperamental British weather when he organised a solo motorcycle fund-raising trip.

He aimed to complete 5,000 miles in five days and achieved his goal with just 10 minutes to spare and an extra five miles on the clock.

But it was the weather that 46-year-old Mick of Great Lever found his toughest challenge as, on his first day, he rode through rain, thunder and even hailstones.

Mick’s routes on his Yamaha Fazer 1,000 took him from one end of the UK to the other, completing 1,000 miles a day.

Thanks to his hard work Mick expects to raise around £1,500 and the money will be split between two charities — North West Air Ambulance and Riders for Health which provides motorcycle riders supplying medicines to remote parts of Africa.

Mick was very grateful to motorcycle clothing and parts shop business owner Dave Lomax who donated £500 worth of petrol for the trip.

Donations to Mick's appeal can be made through Dave's business — Adventure-Spec — at www.adventure-spec.com/road-touring
