Police are hunting a rapist who was convicted in his absence in Bolton.

Nasser Iqbal, aged 21, of Russell Street, Bolton, was sentenced at Bolton Crown Court on May 23 to six and a half years in prison for rape, despite not attending court Iqbal was on bail during the five-day trial, however he failed to appear for the final day and has not been seen since.

A warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest.

Iqbal raped a 20-year-old woman in August, 2006, on Slater Street in Bolton.

Officers have made extensive enquiries to find Iqbal, however he still has not been traced.

He has links to the Fairfield area of Liverpool, Bolton and Bury and officers are keen to hear from anyone who has seen him or who knows of his whereabouts.
