ARSONISTS are being blamed for destroying a Scout storage hut on Sunday night.
Firefighters were called to Middlewood Scout Camp off Leigh Road in Worsley just before 11pm and the wooden cabin was well alight as they arrived.
It took crews from Farnworth and Agecroft a hour to bring the fire under control because a drum of diesel fuel inside the hut was feeding the blaze.
Crews managed to stop the fire spreading to a nearby scout cabin.
Ben Cartwright, watch commander at Farnworth Fire Station, said: “The cause of the fire is being treated as deliberate. The warden said there had been issues with youths at the campsite.”
