A MOTORIST who took a driving test in Pakistan thought it entitled him to drive in Britain.
Asam Bashidi Ahmed, aged 25, of Torbay Close, Deane, was driving a car when he was stopped by police in Manchester Road, Bolton, on December 9 last year.
He was found to be driving without a valid full licence and with no insurance.
Ahmed was convicted by Bolton magistrates in his absence on March 28 after he failed to turn up for the hearing, and a warrant was issued to bring him to court for sentence.
Ahmed told magistrates on Monday he believed the international driving licence he had obtained while visiting Pakistan would entitle him to drive on British roads.
Ahmed was banned from driving for six months, was fined £300 and ordered to pay £60 prosecution costs.
