A SON who became aggressive after turning up at his mother’s house demanding breakfast has been jailed for eight weeks for damaging her kitchen.

Bolton Crown Court heard how Simon Hickey, aged 32, of no fixed address became angry after finding Diane Cotterill had no bacon in the fridge when he arrived at her home on August 8.

When she asked him to leave he threw a glass bowl against a wall, punched a kettle and smashed tea and coffee canisters. In total the cost of the damage was £30.

The Honorary Recorder of Bolton was told that Hickey had an extensive record for violence and aggressive behaviour and is currently serving a jail sentence for other matters.

Andrew Costello, defending, said the offence was committed at a time when he had been drinking excessively and his long term relationship with his partner had broken down.

Judge Clayson described the criminal damage, which Hickey pleaded guilty to, as an “unpleasant incident.”

He jailed Hickey for eight weeks to run concurrently with his existing sentence, made a restraining order banning him from contacting his mother for three years and ordered him to pay an £80 victim surcharge.
