BMX yobs used a stun gun on a teenage girl after chasing her down.
The victim, aged 16, was walking with friends along a residential road in Little Hulton when she was approached by two boys on a single red pedal bike.
They dismounted their BMX and ran after her before using a gun-shaped Taser or similar device on her right arm.
She passed out and collapsed to the floor in Coniston Avenue following the attack at 8.25pm on Sunday night and the youngsters escaped.
The girl had come round by the time GMP officers arrived and she was taken to Royal Bolton Hospital for a treatment.
Police arrested a 15-year-old from the Little Hulton area on suspicion of assault the same evening.
The juvenile suspect was taken into custody for questioning.
He has since been released on police bail until October 7.
No-one else was arrested in connection with the attack.
Stun guns are prohibited weapons in the UK.
