Cannabis man fined

MAGISTRATES have fined a man £55 after he pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis on June 1.
Anthony Norris, aged 25, of Beechfield Road, Smithills, also admitted breaching the peace and agreed to be bound over in the sum of £100 to keep the peace for 12 months.
He was ordered to pay £115 in costs and charges.

Card shop thief jailed

A CARD shop thief has been jailed for eight weeks by Bolton magistrates.
Jason Oudomvilay, aged 37, of Claremont Court, Halliwell, pleaded guilty to burgling Clinton Cards on Market Street, Bolton on April 3 and stealing goods worth £311.
He also admitted receiving a stolen television on the same day and the court heard that he had tested positive for drugs.
Oudomvilay denied resisting a policeman but was found guilty following a trial.
In addition to the jail sentence Oudomvilay was ordered to pay an £80 victim surcharge.

Sentence for man with knife

A 21-YEAR-OLD has been given a conditional discharge for having a knife in public.
Marwan Alsamdai, of Thornbank East, Deane, was caught with the weapon on November 3.
He admitted possession of a bladed article the following day at Bolton Magistrates' Court but was only sentenced on Friday. (June 3)
Alsamdai was given a 12-month conditional discharge and the court ordered the knife be forfeited and destroyed.
No separate action was taken for committing the offence while subject of an earlier 12-month conditional discharge imposed by the same court in March 2015 for an offence of causing fear or provocation of violence.

Vandal given conditional discharge

A VANDAL who damaged a woman's window has been sentenced to a conditional discharge for 12 months.
At Bolton Magistrates' Court Andrew Knott, aged 30, of Masefield Drive, Farnworth, admitted committing the offence on May 24.
In addition to the sentence he was ordered to pay £100 compensation plus £105 in costs and charges.

Man fined for wrong colour light on car 

A MAN has been fined £220 — for having the wrong colour light on his car.
Gareth Rostron, aged 32, of Carlton Gardens, Farnworth, drove a Peugeot 307 in Higher Market Street, Farnworth, on December 4 last year while it was fitted with an additional side marker lamp and that the lamp was not of the appropriate colour.
According to the law, such lights must not be red.
Rostron appeared before Salford and Manchester magistrates last Friday and the charge was proved using the single justice procedure.
He was also ordered to pay £107 in court costs.

Speeding fine for driver 

SPEEDING on the motorway led to an Astley Bridge man appearing in court.
Aznat Ali, aged 46, of Rosedale Avenue, admitted to Salford and Manchester magistrates on June 3 that he drove at 58mph in a temporary 50mph zone in Trafford on November 6 last year.
He was given three penalty points and ordered to pay £251 in fines and court costs.

Woman given one month driving ban

A WOMAN has been fined £200 by magistrates after she was caught driving an Audi A1 on St Peter's Way, Bolton, without a licence or insurance.
When she appeared at Bolton Magistrates' Court, Jenna Hough, aged 31, of Waterside Gardens, Bolton, pleaded guilty to committing the offences on August 30 last year.
In addition to the fine, she was banned from holding a licence for one month and was ordered to pay £55 in costs and charges.

Man tagged electronically

A MAN has been sentenced to an electronically tagged curfew after he admitted interfering with a motorbike.
At Bolton Magistrates' Court Matthew Salvin, aged 21, of Eustace Street, Great Lever, initially denied interfering with the Honda CG125 on March 20, but then changed his plea.
He will be subject to the tagged 7pm to 7am curfew for four weeks and was also ordered to pay £10 compensation plus £160 in costs and charges.
