IT will certainly be all white on the night at Bolton’s biggest Christmas lights switch-on.

A host of performers will be appearing tomorrow before the big switch-on.

The switch will be flicked at 7pm by Bolton Wanderers’ star striker Kevin Davies and manager Owen Coyle, along with Mayor of Bolton Cllr John Byrne and Father Christmas himself.

And joining the Wanderers stars on stage to switch on the lights will be Bolton’s own Olympic mascots, Wenlock and Mandeville.

The mascots, which were unveiled earlier this year, are born and bred in the town from drops of steel from Watson’s Steel, which is supplying the steel for the Olympic stadium.

Bolton Children’s Workshop and local singer Lizzie Hogan will kick off the main event in Victoria Square at 5pm.

Players from Bolton Wanderers will take to the stage to greet revellers and the cast of the Albert Halls’ panto, Aladdin, and the Octagon Theatre’s winter production, David Copperfield, will also appear.

Tonge with the Haulgh community choir, which formed this year and is composed entirely from local people who had never sung before, will be taking to the stage to sing three Christmas carols with X Factor star Laura White.

Finally, some high octane excitement will be provided by world-famous fire dancing company Flame Oz, who will perform a series of entertaining and aweinspiring performances, which combine stunningly choreographed feats of skill and artistry with powerful and explosive fire dancing.

And the grand, long-established Christmas parade of colourful characters, featuring Santa with the Mayor in his sleigh, will depart from Churchgate at 6.25pm and wind its way through the town centre to Victoria Square for the switch on at 7pm, which will be followed by a fantastic fireworks display.

Leader of Bolton Council, Cllr Cliff Morris said: “We’re hoping this year’s switch on will be our biggest and best ever and visitors of all ages can expect a magical experience in Bolton this year.”
