YOUNG Wade Sayers is starting his acting career early — the fiveyear- old has won a part in Coronation Street.

The Mytham Primary School pupil plays Billy Stratton, the son of Becky McDonald’s new boyfriend, Danny Stratton.

The budding actor, who lives in Little Lever with his mum and dad, Emma and Adam, and twin siblings Troy and Danica, is signed to the PHA Agency, and attended auditions at Granada’s Manchester studio in October.

“I was over the moon when we heard he’d got it,” said Mrs Sayers.

Wade has done some catalogue modelling in the past, but this is the first time he has appeared on television.

“It felt good when I got the part,” said Wade. “I love Katherine Kelly, who plays Becky and Jeremy Sheffield who plays Danny, they were really nice to me.”

Wade has appeared in two episodes already, and will also be in tonight’s show.

Mrs Sayers said: “It’s just surreal when you have watched for years and then you see your son on the TV.

When he went into school on the Monday they were all stopping him to ask if it was him.” Troy and Danica, who are aged 12, are equally pleased for Wade.

“They were really chuffed,” said Mrs Sayers.

“All the twins’ friends were texting them to say they had seen him.”

Tonight’s double bill sees Danny make a shock proposal to Becky — suggesting she emigrate with him and Billy to Barbados where the hotel chain he manages is moving. With Becky still struggling to clear her name following Tracy’s accusation she caused her miscarriage, the question is whether she will agree to the idea and leave Weatherfield forever for a life of sun, sea and surf.
