WATCH Bolton’s newest school being built in two minutes.

A dramatic time-lapse film has captured the year long construction of the new University Technical College (UTC) in just 126 seconds.

UTC Bolton opened on the University of Bolton campus at the start of the new academic year, opening its gates to 270 pupils and sixth formers.

Last November, as development work was underway, time-lapse photography specialist Regenology was brought in to allow people to watch its progress and see it take shape.

A spokesman for Regenology said: “We were asked to produce a time-lapse film of the construction of Bolton's newest educational institution, the 4,816 sq m, two-storey Bolton University Technical College.

“Another great project for us to be involved with that you can now see with our two minute film.”

The new £10 million school will cater for 600 pupils when full and they will have a chance to use University of Bolton facilities in their studies and pupils will be guaranteed high quality work placements.

Regenology has worked on a number of high profile construction and regeneration projects across the UK — and say that time-lapse helps to engage the community with projects.

The company’s time-lapse system generates high definition footage that is said to be ideal for historical documentation, promotional films, DVDs as well as being streamed direct from customers’ websites.

The school has been built on the main university campus which won Government approval for the project in 2014.

UTCs are a new concept in education for 14 to 19 year olds bringing together practical, technical and academic learning with a "specialist industry focus".

Bolton UTC will specialise in health sciences and engineering technologies — described as areas of skill shortage both locally and nationally.

Employers will mentor and guide students and UTC Bolton will provide each student with 50 days of work experience on practical projects with university partners and employers.
