YOUNG Einsteins discovered the right formula to be top of the class.

Science teacher and assistant head at Sharples School, Caroline Molyneux couldn't be more proud of her year 11 science class, so much so she put them forward for the Bolton Sixth Form College Secondary School Class of they Year Award.

Every single one of her pupils gained top grades in two science GCSEs, which not only did they complete in just one year smashed their predicted grades, which were C and Ds.

Miss Molyneux said: "Many of the students felt that is was an almost impossible task alongside their other nine-to-11 GCSEs.

"However, with unusual lessons to get the students enthused about science, including wearing fake moustaches when doing role play about famous scientists, we were learning about and singing science songs to help them learn the key facts, the class were soon loving their science lessons.

"I also added some extra motivation by promising that if every single students in the class passed both GCSEs with grade C or above that I would audition for Britain's Got Talent with one of our science songs!"

Pupils stayed at school until 5pm for revision classes and session were even held at McDonalds every Sunday morning — and one pupil even got his mum involved who took science night classes at the school and joined in with the revision sessions.

Every singe pupil in the class achieved top GCSE grades and one of her pupils got two As and is studying physics at A-level

Miss Molyneux said: "Unfortunately I have been reminded by the students of my promise to audition for Britain's Got Talent!

"I am so very proud of the class and think they are all very deserving of The Bolton News Class of the Year."

Miss Molyneux brought her current science class to the awards.

She said modestly: "It is the hard work of the children, what do they say 'you can take a horse to water'. It is up to the young people to put the work in.

"I am really pleased the class have achieved the award, it gives the current class something to aspire to."

Zain Ea, aged 15, said: "I feel great a class at our school achieved the award and now the challenge is for us to do as well or better than them.

"Miss Molyneux is the best science teacher ever."

Fayyaz Taniya aged 15, added: "We do have to work hard to get the grades, but Miss Molyneux makes it fun too."
