SCORES of excited youngsters were able to "let it go" as they enjoyed a day of singing and crafts as well as a screening of a festive Disney blockbuster Frozen.

The event, held in Bolton Library, also gave the children the chance to meet up with a lookalike of Elsa, who led a singalong of tunes from the hit film.

The role of Elsa was played by Vicky Rothwell, from the Rothwell Arts academy in Darwen, and she said she was very impressed with the turnout and the facilities on offer.

She added: “The council asked us to help promote this community event and it's really impressive how many people have come along to what is a great building for the community.

“Lots of the kids dressed up as their favourite Frozen characters and they were all really excited for the day. It's great to see.”

Children spent the first period of the day taking part in craft work in the library before Elsa led the singalong and asked the youngsters to join in.

Then the day was rounded off with a screening of the film itself, allowing parents a chance to nip off for some Christmas shopping in the town centre.

One Frozen fan with even more reason to celebrate was Tarin Brown who was celebrating her third birthday with her mum Michelle and older sister Eilidh.

Michelle said: “She is a really big fan of Frozen so it is great that the library is putting on this event.

“We use the library very regularly and it is a brilliant place to come with children. Every time we are in town, we have to pop in.”

The library hosts a regular free film screening once a month and staff decided it would be a good idea to show the increasingly popular Frozen just before Christmas.

Lesley Openshaw, from Bolton Library, added: “We knew Frozen was a popular film but we didn’t know the kids would be quite this excited about it; it is lovely to see.

“All the places were booked up and the outfits that the kids are wearing look amazing.”
