2. Ever fancied learning to play a stringed instrument? The friendly folks at Booth’s, Churchgate, are holding a special day on Saturday to celebrate all things string.

There will also be entertainment throughout the day on the pop-up Churchgate stage including The Riot Band (pictured below).

Residents are being urged to embrace a retro theme for the fun-packed weekend, including a gala on Red Bank Field and street parade, on Saturday, and Tower FM roadshow, on Red Bank Field, on Sunday.

4. Get on your bike and join Olympic gold medallist Jason Kenny (pictured below) for a ride around the traffic-free streets of Bolton.

5. Go back to the swinging sixties at a mod-themed cafe in Westhoughton

The Retro Mod and Rock Lounge, Wood Street, is holding a special event on Sunday with more than 100 Vespa and Lambretta scooters expected to arrive at 11am.
