ON the menu for Come Dine with Me fans will be prawn Dibnah, lamb McGinlay and chocolate Ding Dong Do as the popular show comes to Bolton for a special one-off episode.

Dale Peters, from Little Lever, will be seen serving up a distinctive Bolton-themed menu as he entertains strangers in his house.

The 29-year-old self-confessed fan of the show decided to go in front of the cameras after the producers did a leaflet drop in the area inviting locals to showcase real Lancashire hospitality in the town.

And Dale very nearly didn't get on.

The 29, who works as a support researcher at MediaCity, said: "I do watch the programme, and enjoy cooking, so thought I would apply.

"I started filling out the application form and because it was so long I didn't fill it all in and didn't send it off and forgot all about it.

"I get a phone call from the show asking why I didn't fill it in, I did a telephone interview there and then. They came round and did some filming and I was asked to go on the show!"

Filming took place in January and tomorrow viewers will see contestants from Lostock, Breightmet and Swinton battle it out for the prize.

Dale, who has appeared in children's television shows when he was younger, said: "I'm the first to cook and my menu has a solid Bolton theme.

"The only bit I found challenging was the dessert, because I haven't cooked a dessert before.

"I will find out with everybody else what my guests thought about my food.

"The meal went well so I am hoping I will get a good reception.

He added: "It was a great experience and we are still all in touch."

Dale said: "I really like the concept of meeting people you have never met before, having them in your house and cooking for them.

"I would like to do something like this again, when my friends and family found out they were not surprised they are used to be me doing crazy things.

The show will be broadcast on Friday, September 11, on Channel 4 at 5pm.
