MUPPETMANIA is back on our screens as the loveable characters try and earn their crust right here in Bolton.

The wacky gang of colourful puppets, created by Jim Henson, are the latest to star in an advert for Bolton bread makers Warburtons.

Not content with teaming up with Hollywood A-lister Sylvester Stallone, who fronted the baker's last advert The Deliverers, the bread giant has now employed a bunch of Muppets, including Kermit the Frog, The Swedish Chef, Fozzie Bear, Statler and Waldorf, Sweetums, and of course the unstoppable Miss Piggy, to help promote its new giant crumpets range.

In the ad, entitled The Giant Crumpet Show, the zany group bakes up a storm to try and persuade boss Jonathan Warburton to join them in their latest spectacle as they sing and dance their way around the bakery.

Saucy Miss Piggy even tries to prove she is the thinking man's crumpet as she gets cosy with a nervous looking Jonathan, while her estranged boyfriend Kermit chills out with friends Gonzo and Floyd for a nice hot cuppa — complete with 'I love Bolton' mugs.

Speaking of The Giant Crumpet Show, Kermit the Frog said: "It's the thickest and fluffiest production we've ever done. We held nothing back, and I'm proud to say no Giant Crumpets were harmed during the making of this advert."

Warbies came up with the Animal-sized alternative to the breakfast favourite, which measures up at nearly twice the size of regular crumpets, earlier this month.

Jonathan Warburton, chairman of the bread company, said: "Here at Warburtons we've been perfecting our crumpet recipe since we first launched them over 25 years ago.

"With families up and down the country telling us how much they love them, we knew the only way we could make them better was to make them bigger.

"We're proud to be launching another bakery first and who better to introduce Giant Crumpets than the Muppets. It certainly wasn't my average working day."

The ad premieres on TV tonight, during The X Factor on ITV.
