THE battle of the Christmas advertisements is well and truly on.
The latest retailer to unveil their festive offering is Sainsbury's.
The supermarket chain has joined this year's trend for upbeat adverts with an animated tale about a father who makes it home in time for Christmas, accompanied by the singing of actor and talk show host James Corden.

Flight Of The Conchords star Bret McKenzie, who won the 2012 Oscar for best original song for The Muppets, composed the tune The Greatest Gift For Christmas Is Me, sung by Corden.
The latest ad will screen on TV for the first time tonight at 9.15pm during ITV's I'm a Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here!.
It follows department store John Lewis' upbeat Buster the Boxer campaign featuring wildlife animals and the family dog having fun on a new trampoline.
Usually king of the Christmas ad campaign, John Lewis has split opinion this year with some Twitter users complaining it appears to suggest Father Christmas is not real.

Waitrose is making a bid for the festive season's biggest commercial tear-jerker with an epic tale of a robin's homecoming to a UK garden and a crumb of mince pie.
The 90-second ad reflects the real-life migration of a Scandinavian robin on a journey across mountains and seas to the UK where a young girl has prepared for his arrival by leaving a mince pie out on the bird table.

Over at Aldi and many people have been charmed by Kevin the Carrot, who makes his way across a festive dinner table to try and meet Santa.

The German retailer has since released an advert poking fun at John Lewis' offering. Kevin can be seen gearing up for the big event of Christmas - not Santa - but watching the John Lewis ad.
He gets so overexcited he hyperventilates and has to breathe into a paper bag.

M&S threw a curve ball into the mix with a dazzling advert featuring Mrs Claus.
She steals the show by helping make a festive wish come true for a young boy wanting to do something special for his sister.
