SCENE: Buckley Lane, Farnworth, near the Bradford Arms,
An investigation has been launched following a suspected murder in Farnworth.
Police have confirmed a man has died after an assault near the Bradford Arms, in Buckley Lane at about 6.25pm this evening.
Officers have set up a cordon at the scene and are treating the incident as murder.
The scene is being preserved for forensic work to be carried out.
A man has been arrested in connection with the suspected murder and no one else is thought to be involved.

However, police have stressed the investigation is still at a very early stage.
An eyewitness has reported seeing three ambulances and three police cars at the scene.
