A brass band in south Bolton is looking to raise £3,000 to continue running for another year.
Kearsley Youth Brass Band needs the funding to keep helping children learn to play musical instruments for free.
The organisation runs community performances throughout the year but is trying to continue its current work while supporting a tour in North Wales in August.
Most recently, the band put on a show alongside the Kearsley Community Choir at Kearsley Mount Methodist Church on March, 27.
Stephen Tongue, band chairman, said: “The event went really well. It was a free community concert and we always encourage people to bring their family and friends along.
“Ideally we would like to increase the number of members in the band to around 30 but we need to continue raising money.”
The last event raised around £280 for the charity but, with the added financial cost of taking the children on tour, the band will need to raise more than its usual yearly total to sustain services.
In the last 12 months it supported fourteen young people to gain a music grade for free, and organisers want to increase this number by a further 10 in 2018.
In total, the band has four voluntary music teachers working to run a weekly practice and promote participation through taster sessions and concerts.
