PATIENTS and families are being warned that parking meters at the Royal Bolton Hospital do not yet accept the new £1 coin.
The Bolton NHS Foundation Trust says it is currently waiting for new machines to be installed that will accept the 12-sided coin, which came into circulation in March.
A statement on the trust’s Facebook page said: “The Trust is currently in a queue for the machines to be updated, along with many other meters in the UK.
“We do offer a cashless parking system using the Ringo App as an alternative where possible if you do not have any old £1 coins or other coins that the meters accept.
“Patients and visitors using Chadwick Car Park opposite the main entrance will not be affected as this is a newer machine and is already configured to accept the new £1 coin.
“Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.”
The old £1 will lose legal tender status on October 15.
