ANAESTHETISTS at Royal Bolton Hospital have been recognised for their work providing the quality care to local patients.

The anaesthetics department received the Anaesthesia Clinical Services Accreditation (ACSA) from the Royal College of Anaesthetists (RCoA).

ACSA is a peer-review scheme which promotes quality improvement and the highest standards of anaesthetic service.

The Royal Bolton Hospital’s anaesthetic department is the seventh in the north of England and the sixteenth in the UK to receive the prestigious accreditation.

Dr Lucy McManamon, consultant anaesthetist and ACSA lead at the trust, said: "We are immensely proud to achieve this accreditation and will continue our philosophy of constant improvement."

Dr Janice Fazackerley, RCoA Council member, congratulated the team for its commitment for providing the best possible care for patients.

She added: "The anaesthetic department has a reputation as being well-led, and it has punched above its weight with influence in training in the North West for many years."
