A FORMER fashion shop will be converted into a micropub.
Ale aficionados will soon be able to visit the site in Chorley New Road, Horwich, after Bolton Council gave plans to transform the building the go-ahead.
Applicant Michael Ross submitted his proposals for the old Just Boutique shop in June and won plaudits from local councillors.
Cllr Marie Brady said in July: “I think this is great for Horwich. I have even heard people describing the town as the new Didsbury.”
Council officers said that the micropub would be of benefit, bringing a vacant site back into use and creating one full-time and four part-time jobs.
They added: “It is recognised that the proposed development would add to the vitality and viability of Horwich town centre and would likely be a popular business.”
The approval of these plans is the latest boost for beer fans across the borough.
Similar sites — Bunbury’s in Chorley Old Road and Tap and Cork in Lee Lane, Horwich — have proved popular with drinkers since opening and there are further plans for a micropub in Bromley Cross.
