THERE was fantastic fun to be had with Roald Dahl inspired crafts at Horwich Library.

As part of Bolton libraries summer reading challenge, a Fantastic Mr Fox event was held, giving youngsters the chance to make a mask.

The event was aimed at children aged from four to 11 and around 19 youngsters came along to have some fun.

They used materials such as sequins and feathers to get creative.

A Bolton Council spokesman said: “It was a really good enjoyable activity. Some brought their parents with them.”

The event coincided with the library giving out the packed lunches for children who would usually get free school dinners and those who came along to get their lunch were encouraged to join in with the session.

The summer reading challenge runs throughout the school summer holidays and encourages children to pick up a book. The challenge is to read six books and this year’s theme is Animal Agents.

The next summer reading challenge event at Horwich Library is on September 2, when a ‘crafternoon’ will be held and all are welcome to come along.
