A TOWN councillor has stepped down from her role due to ill health.
Kath Schofield, who represented Lever Park Ward on Horwich Town Council, was elected in May 2015.
But it was revealed yesterday that the Labour member was vacating her seat.
Mrs Schofield, aged 71, said: "I have not been well for the last few months and I have had to step back from a lot of things.
"I enjoyed my time there and I would like to think that I added something to the outcome of some of the decisions that were made.
"But I am quite sad really. I think it's the people I'll remember. I got quite friendly with many of them.
"We are all there for the community in the end."
Mrs Schofield, who lives in Brunswick Avenue, was heavily involved in Horwich In Bloom and will continue on the committee as a resident.
She added: "I am not as active as I was but I will put a lot into it."
She was also instrumental in highlighting the issues of the 577 bus between Blackrod and Bolton.
And she said she will remember her time on the town council's grants committee helping local groups.
