RESIDENTS are invited to take part in a bike ride to raise money and awareness of Motor Neurone Disease.

The event takes place at The Ainsworth Arms in Halliwell Road, Bolton, on Sunday, September 7, at noon. It has been organised by Motor Neurone sufferer Clive Burke, aged 53.

Mr Burke, who has only had the disease for six months, needs help to dress himself, eat and wash.

He is aiming to raise £10,000 for the charity and has raised £1,000 so far.

Mr Burke said: “Motor Neurone Disease is a terrible disease and I hope that by putting on this event I can make more people aware of it. Anybody is welcome to attend and hopefully it will attract as many people as possible.”

The bike ride will take a route through Belmont and Rivington. Entrants can cycle either a 12 and a half mile route or a 25-mile route. To donate or to find out more, visit justgiving.com/clive-burke1
