A DAUBHILL primary school will find out today (THURS) whether it can move into former Bolton At Home offices.

The Olive Tree Primary School is currently based in temporary accommodation in St Helens Road, but is looking to relocate next door to Adelaide House.

Under plans submitted to Bolton Council, the existing office building would be converted to 14 classrooms for the free school, while a new extension would create space for offices, a main hall and play area on the second floor. area on the second floor.

The existing rear car park off Adelaide Street would be used as a junior play area, and there would be space for 24 vehicles to park.

A design statement submitted by architects Pozzoni says there will be internal refurbishment of the office block to create the new classrooms plus a library, new catering kitchen and prayer room.

It adds: “The new build provides a flexible, multipurpose facility for the school and immediate community providing a space for general teaching, dining, breakfast and after school clubs, school assembly and general community use.”

Planning officers are recommending councillors approve the application, and if allowed the new school would provide 15 jobs.

Officer Alex Allen wrote in a report to planning committee: “The proposal provides a new primary school in an accessible location to a local catchment population without compromising highway safety or the operations of adjoining uses.

“The new build element enhances the overall quality of the development.”
