CLIFF Morris will attend his final full council meeting as town hall leader tomorrow night.

Cllr Morris announced earlier this month that he will be stepping down from his position as leader after 11 years in charge on December 31.

Tomorrow’s full council meeting is the last of the calendar year, although there are other town hall meetings in December that Cllr Morris is expected to attend.

The 76-year-old, who has represented Halliwell ward for almost 35 years, is not due for re-election until 2020 and said he would remain as a backbench councillor after stepping aside as leader.

On the agenda for the meeting tomorrow are two Labour motions on the ‘chronic underfunding’ of social care and the gap between resources allocated to councils and the costs associated with rising numbers of children in care.

Conservative councillor Zoe Kirk-Robinson will also move a motion condemning the number of gambling outlets aimed at children.
