A PHYSIOTHERAPY treatment centre could be coming to Westhoughton after plans wer submitted to Bolton Council.

The proposal is to build a two-storey building on land at the rear of 222 Church Street, as well as parking, landscaping and a 2m-high security fence.

The premises would be run by Cosgroves Physiotherapy, which is currently based at Ashcrofts Farm in Chorley Road.

A statement submitted with the application said: “The surrounding area of Westhoughton has a mix of building types and uses, but there is a large amount of residential accommodation in close proximity of the site.

“The existing parking area to be developed is large when considered against the existing shop unit that it directly serves.

“The site is in a sustainably location and the proposed building would not detract from the surrounding area. Adequate parking will still be maintained on site, to serve the new building use and the existing shop use.”

Members of Westhoughton Town Council recently discussed the application at a meeting in the town hall.

They voted to recommend the application for approval.
