WANDERERS defender Zat Knight believes the four-match unbeaten run under new boss Dougie Freedman is an illustration the team is turning a corner, and now wants to turn draws into wins.

After victory against high-flying Cardiff City in his first game, Freedman has overseen three draws.

And while single points have not helped push the Whites up the table – they are currently 13 points short of an automatic promotion place – Knight says the Scot has instilled belief and made the team harder to beat.

Knight said: “I think the team have been playing well, there have been some games when a couple of months ago we would have lost, but we have stuck together and got something out of the games.

“We have won one and drawn three, but it would be nice to now turn those draws into wins.”

“The manager hasn’t set out any specific targets, but he believes that we are good enough to go out there and win every game. He is still trying to install his ideas onto the squad and hopefully we can turn the page and get where we want to be.

“We are not too far off as 13 points is nothing in this league as you can win a couple of games and find yourselves amongst the top six.”

Knight hopes they can step it up and secure six points from back-to-back away games against Brighton today and Blackburn on Wednesday.

But the former Aston Villa man knows it will not be straightforward against sides who currrently sit sixth and seventh in the Championship.

Knight, who hopes to shrug off a hip injury to retain his place on the south coast this afternoon, added: “It is going to be tough, especially playing a team like Brighton who are up there and playing well.

“I think from this weekend’s game and Wednesday’s match with Blackburn, we have to make sure they don’t move further away from us.

“If we can pick up some points from those two teams, and then against Ipswich at home next Saturday, we will then hopefully have a good return and start moving up the table.”
