One of them was a 3-1 win over Gordon Milne’s Leicester, who would go on to earn promotion to the First Division later that season.
Wayne Foster, Mick Doyle and Chris Thompson scored the goals for Bolton, while Ian Wilson added the consolation for the Foxes.
Leicester, with a strike force including future England stars Gary Lineker and Alan Smith, would seal promotion after an appeal from Fulham, who lost their chance to leapfrog them on the final day of the season by losing to Derby.
