Can Messi be regarded as the "best ever" if he hasn't won, or at least been top scorer at a World Cup? I find it difficult to rate him above Maradona in my lifetime, let alone Pele.

I'm going for Edin Dzeko of Bosnia. Feel like he's got a fairly easy group to get a few goals in the bag, and then anything goes after that. Remember Oleg Salekno scoring five in one game a few years back? A bit like that.

3:43pm

OK - I'll be asking for your World Cup predicitions over the next couple of days.

We'll start with top goalscorer.

3:13pm

And Hodgson says there is "nothing wrong" with Steven Gerrard, amidst rumours he could have a groin problem.

3:10pm

The England boss also says he's "not hung up on Andrea Pirlo" and that Italy have other great players.

3:09pm

Roy Hodgson says Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain "could be fit" for the Uruguay game.

2:45pm

Charlton look like they have failed in a bid for Chris O'Grady, temporarily linked with a move to Wanderers early in the summer. His move from Barnsley has broken down over personal terms, it seems.

2:43pm

And elsewhere, newly-promoted Rotherham United have signed Aston Villa youngster Jordan Bowery.

2:40pm

Championship news from Derby County - they have announced the signing of former Arsenal and Sevilla midfielder Alban Bunjaku on a free transfer.

I think the only reason we have not signed the juke or mason so far is because both players and manager are on holiday? I'm personally not worried about the lack of news towards these two players, as far as I am concerned we're in the same boat as last year concerning spearing, where other teams piped up and declared their interest and dougie didn't really respond, next thing you know we've found 2 million from somewhere and bagged ourselves a great captain and leader.... I think this may just be the case again but the mason deal IF it happens will be a 12 month loan with a view to a permanent deal. I have a real good feeling about this season the team looks more like dougies and the dead wood is pretty much gone get andrews off the wage bill and loan sordell out again and I'm happy, the last time we finished 14th in this league we went on to secure promotion in the next season...

With DF not spending money on transfers so far, maybe putting his eggs in one bag to get juke and just waiting for some of the higher earners to move on and put those extra funds towards newer players? Its looking more like a DF team now...

1:25pm

If it happens, you'll regret taking the mickey :-)

1:19pm

Juke is the top target. And Parr is a possibility, I hear, but one who has a lot of options.

1:18pm

Nothing iminent, so far as I know.

Personally still play sordell, if we could somehow lower his wages I would be starting him often because he can score on his day, any news on players likely to leave?

1:15pm

Reading have also confirmed the signing of striker Andrija Novakovich.

1:15pm

Championship news just coming in: Wolves have confirmed the signing Dutch winger Rajiv van La Parra.

1:10pm

Sordell's future will be interesting. Not guaranteed a start at Wanderers - so you would expect him to look elsewhere.

Interesting view from Simon Charlton in the paper this morning, completely agree with him though, the earlier he is in the better, saw a rumour of Burnley of all clubs wanting sordell, still think he could do a job for us though, would let Andrews go, hope rob hall gets his chance next season felt when he played he added a flair, bring on the new season in my opinion

The Bolton News: STEVE THOMPSON

Ex-Wanderers favourite Steve Thompson was appointed as Mark Robins' number two at Hudderfield Town this week. Read a decent interview with him right here.

12:08pm

Moritz still in Brazil with family - no decision made at last check. Very important one for his career.

In reply to Balboa... I would be expressively keen on seeing Mason and Juke link up as a partnership. The games they played together seemed fruitful to say the least, if BWFC had had Mason and Juke up front for the majority of last season I feel we would have been seeing a different result at the end of the season. However, that different result may have seen Middlebrough and Cardiff command much higher fees or keep the pair respectively. Still would that have been so bad if we had reached the playoffs and/or a return to the Premier League? I think not... Ideally a fit Beckford, Mason and Juke could see BWFC have the most prolific striking rate in the Championship next season... I also think that we SHOULD release some more players out on loan to facilitate and not be so soft with the approach to the departure of Keith Andrews and get a fee from his remaining contract never mind a compensation package... but what do I know of KA's clauses.

12:07pm

Just had a great chat with former Wanderers joint-manager Roy McFarland about all sorts of stuff. Coming to a newspaper near you...

11:00am

Not sure about the Europop that provides the soundtrack, though.

10:58am

Yes... watching that through it's made Lukas Jutkiewicz look all the more important a signing.

10:30am

News from elsewhere in the Championship - Nottingham Forest completed a handy signing last night, that of Hull City striker Matty Fryatt. Looks like they are going for it once again!

10:15am

A full list is available here

10:14am

Wanderers have been drawn as top seeds in the Capital One Cup first round, which takes place next Tuesday.

10:12am

Interesting view, Balboa, and I think Dougie Freedman admitted that his fitness could have been better. Hopefully he'll get the chance to get a full pre-season?

Agree about Mason, though, very good player.

The Juke did very well for us in his matches, but at times I wondered whether he looked a little "weary"? He's a big unit and puts the effort in, so may run out of steam more often than other?? Just a thought but I'd still snap him up if possible. He enables us to hold the ball and advance through the field more steadily.

Would be more keen to get Mason in. Great little player, drifts around the box and never stops moving. More growth and potential with him?

The Bolton News:

A nice interview with ex-Wanderers defender Gretar Steinsson here at beatsandrhymesfc.com - and a fellow karaoke enthusiast. Top man!

9:03am

Elsewhere, we started a series of features looking at players who just didn't quite get it right at Wanderers.

Blerim Dzemaili was first up - and here's what we had to say about him.

8:59am

If you can handle the commentary - here are the goals from the game.

The Bolton News: Lee-Chung-Yong-bn200918383.jpg

Things did not go well for Chung-Yong Lee last night as South Korea crashed to a 4-0 defeat against Ghana in their final friendly before the World Cup.

8:55am

Reminder from the club - Bolton Central is closed for the duration of today. Phone systems (0844 8712932) still in operation

8:54am

The Bolton News: New Wanderers' signing Lukas Jutkiewicz

Main Wanderers news this morning comes from an interview I did with Simon Charlton yesterday.

Here, the fomer Reebok defender talks about Lukas Jutkiewicz and why it might be important for the club to snap him up quickly.

8:51am

Good morning folks - another day closer to the World Cup party.
