Hope you enjoyed the live updates from the 2014 Bolton Golf Championship. I'll be doing it all over again tomorrow night at the final. Please join me.

9:46pm

The Bolton News:

Liam Ball will be going for his second title.

9:45pm

The Bolton News:

Gareth Hastie will be going for his fifth title (have I mentioned that?!)

9:44pm

So here's the two guys in the final tomorrow at Chorley Golf Club at 4.40pm...

9:43pm

Congratulations to Ball. What a win! What a game! Ball was three shots behind after nine holes then two ahead five holes later. Then level after 18. Then it took them four extra sudden-death holes to separate them. And one bad drive into the trees did it. That's sport.

9:39pm

Ball beat Millhouse on the fourth extra hole. Millhouse drove into the trees and could not recover. It took him six shots and he conceded. So unlucky for him as he looks for his first final appearance.

9:38pm

Liam Ball is in the final.

9:27pm

Just had word that Millhouse is in big big trouble at the fourth extra hole. He's driven into the trees and Ball is on the fairway. Looks like Ball's going to win it, but don't put your mortgage on it with these two!

9:25pm

They can't be separated. Ball and Millhouse have had three extra holes.

9:13pm

Top of the all-time winners' list is Jack Taylor. He's a real legend of Bolton sport, let alone Bolton golf. He won it 10 times you know. It's all free this history lesson by the way.

9:12pm

Howard Broadbent has also won the Bolton Golf Championship title five times. He stands alone in second place in the all-time list of winners.

9:11pm

If Ball wins his semi he'll be going for his second title. Millhouse hasn't won it before. Neither have I for that matter but I can't play golf to save my life.

9:10pm

Have I said Gareth Hastie will be going for a fifth title tomorrow night? "Yes", you scream, "about twenny times".

9:08pm

Ball and Millhouse still battling it out at the extra holes. They'll have it dark!

8:49pm

Millhouse wins the 17th to make it all square with a birdie four. They halve the 18th so it's sudden death at the extra holes. What a game.

8:22pm

Drama at the 16th! Millhouse just misses a putt. I'm told it "lipped out" - I'm not exactly sure what that means but I believe it could hardly have been closer to going in. As it happens they both par the 16th. Ball still 1 up with two to play. I can hardly stand the tension.

8:20pm

Who's going to meet Gareth Hastie in the final? Ball and Millhouse are having a right old battle and I wouldn't put money on either losing.

8:19pm

But Millhouse is not finished yet. He ends Ball's run of five straight hole wins by winning the 15th with a birdie. Ball 1 up after 15.

8:17pm

Ball birdies the 14th to go 2 up. The fifth hole in a row he has won.

8:12pm

And if you've enjoyed it I will be doing it all over again at tomorrow's final. And I'll actually be there this time along with Derek Jones.

8:11pm

Still waiting for news from the Ball/Millhouse game. In the meantime, if you want to let me know what you think of this service please tweet me at @NeilBonnarBN or email neil.bonnar@nqnw.co.uk - I'd love to hear from you.

8:05pm

8:03pm

Liam Ball and Mark Millhouse currently playing the 14th hole. Ball 1 up in a gripping game.

8:01pm

Buckley won the 15th to reduce Hastie's lead to one hole but Hastie hit straight back to win the 16th with a birdie two and then they halved the 17th. Hastie wins 2&1 to reach his third successive final.

7:59pm

Gareth Hastie wins his match against Matt Buckley.

7:56pm

This is how Turton GC man Ball did it: Won 10th with a par 4, won 11th with a par 4, won 12th with a birdie 3, won 13th with a par 4. Ball 1 up after 13 holes.

7:53pm

Ball has gone from 3 down after nine holes to 1 up after 13. Our man in the field says it's the biggest turnaround he's ever seen - and he's seen plenty!

7:52pm

Incredible turnaround in the Millhouse/Ball game! News straight up.

7:18pm

Out there in the field our intrepid golf correspondent Derek Jones reports Hastie birdied the 10th to go 1 up and after he and Matt Buckley levelled on the 11th and 12th Hastie eagled the 13th. Hastie 2 up after 13 holes.

7:14pm

Hastie turns it on! After being level after nine holes the reigning champion is 2 up after 13.

7:06pm

They halved the sixth, parred the seventh and ninth and birdied the eighth. Millhouse 3 up after nine holes.

7:05pm

Millhouse and Ball giving as good as they get on the sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth holes to leave Millhouse 3 up at the turn (I believe that's the term for the ninth hole)

6:54pm

I am indebted to Javaid Sabrine ‏@JavaidSabrine for telling me I was wrong to say only Gareth Hastie had won the title before. Liam Ball won it in 2010.

6:50pm

It's a tight one out there in the first game. Buckley levelled with a brilliant tee shot at the seventh to give him a birdie two. the next two holes were levelled so it's all square after nine holes.

6:39pm

... game where Ball's had a couple of bad holes. The Turton man conceded the fourth and had a troublesome fifth as Millhouse goes 3 up.

6:36pm

Developments in the Ball/Millhouse g

6:34pm

Derek reports that Hastie has gone ahead after winning the sixth. Hastie 1up after six holes.

6:33pm

If you're enjoying this, it's all thanks to Derek Jones out in the field

6:32pm

As I was saying before my finger rudely hit the 'send'' button, Buckley conceded the fourth to bring the scores level.

6:30pm

Back over to Hastie

6:29pm

Millhouse and Ball levelled the second and third holes. Millhouse 1 up.

6:16pm

That age-old dilemma: do you use words or numbers for scores in golf i.e. One up or 1 up? I'm switching to numbers. Decisions, decisions?

6:09pm

Hastily back to Hastie (get it?), he and Buckley halved the third. Buckley one up.

6:06pm

Millhouse birdied the first to go one up.

6:04pm

Playing behind Hastie and Buckley, Mark Millhouse has started well

6:02pm

Matt Buckley won the second hole to go one up against Gareth Hastie.

5:05pm

If anyone's actually reading this why don't you tweet me. Even better tweet me a picture from the games. I'm getting into this live update mullarkey.

5:03pm

All these wonderful pictures are brought to you courtesy of Derek Jones who does all the work around here on our golf coverage. Well done and thanks Derek.

5:00pm

4:52pm

The Bolton News:

Here's the favourite, four-time champion Gareth Hastie.

4:48pm

What do the guys look like who are doing battle tonight, I hear to ask... Pictures coming right up.

4:30pm

But the guy Hastie's playing tonight, Matt Buckley, has come close, reaching the semis in the last two years and the final the year before.

4:28pm

Only Hastie has won the title before. Four times no less. He's very good!

4:13pm

Liam Ball spent a couple of years as a professional before going back to being an amateur in 2012. The Turton GC man takes on Mark Millhouse in today's semi.
