This live event has finished

9:33pm

All over - decent win in the end.

9:31pm

Threlkeld on for Feeney

9:29pm

Riley forces Musumgu into a good save with a left-footed drive. All came about through Spearing's pressure on ball. Keeper then made another great block from Davies.

9:28pm

Trialist nearly made a name for himself, heading wide from close range.

9:28pm

Attendance 1,707

9:25pm

Wearing the number 50 shirt. Not sure I've seen anyone at Wanderers that high on the list.

9:25pm

Ryan Sellers on for Moxey

9:22pm

Riley on for McNaughton

9:20pm

Great turn from the substitute, shrugged off his man and drilled a shot into the bottom corner. Almost lazily done - but a fine strike.

9:20pm

GOAL Conor Wilkinson

9:15pm

Davies for Beckford

Wilkinson for Medo

9:15pm

Logan strikes over the top for Dale.

9:14pm

We'll be seeing Cian Bolger soon.

9:10pm

Rob Hall off for Vela

9:09pm

Campus clashes heads with Feeney and comes off very much second best. Blood pouring from an eye wound.

9:07pm

Looks like Josh Vela coming on.

9:06pm

Medo takes a shot from distance that clips off Eastham and out for a corner.

9:06pm

Bit like Ariza Makakula.

9:05pm

Trialist is on for Rochdale. Looks an imposing type.

9:02pm

Rochdale keeper has raced smartly off his line twice in the last few mins to clear from Beckford. Meanwhile, Tanser blasts just wide from 25 yards for the home side.

9:00pm

Another effort from Vicenti from distance. Just wide of Lonergan's goal and the keeper had it covered.

8:57pm

Nice ball from Feeney to find Danns in the right channel. He cut a cross back for Beckford but it was just behind him.

8:55pm

Freedman seems to be encouraging his players to get the ball down and play it around a bit more. Been a bit too rushed in this second half.

8:53pm

Cannon blasts (!) a shot from the edge of the box. Medo gets a good block in.

8:49pm

Hope Feeney and Hall can get a little closer to Beckford this half, or that Medo/Danns/Spearing can draw Dale out a little more to create a few gaps.

8:47pm

8:43pm

But Wanderers have had the ball in the net twice, and it has counted once... perhaps I'm being harsh?

8:42pm

They have been a yard sharper in midfield. Three or four decent chances.

8:42pm

Think Dale are a little unlucky to be behind this half.

8:32pm

8:32pm

Feeney hits the base of the post. Keeper may have got a touch. Hall followed up and tapped the ball into the net but was ruled offside.

8:31pm

Camps stabs over the top for Dale. They have had all the chances in the second half of this half.

8:23pm

Another chance for Dale. Bunney's shot from the edge of the box sails just over the bar.

8:21pm

Great effort from Vicenti, whose fierce shot is beaten away by Lonergan.

8:18pm

Beckford fails to get a decent connection on a volley from McNaughton's cross. Another good chance missed.

8:15pm

Big mis from the centre-half Eastham. Headed wide unmarked from six yards.

8:13pm

Cannon tests Lonergan with a low shot from the edge of the box. Easy take for the Whites keeper.

8:10pm

Great goal. Turned on the edge of the box, beat a man and then drilled a shot into the bottom corner. Out of nothing, really.

8:09pm

GOAL Neil Danns

8:08pm

Vicenti floats a cross in for centre forward Callum Camps. He heads wide. Probably as close as Dale have come.

8:06pm

Rochdale scrapping well in the middle of the park. That has livened up their fans.

8:03pm

Beckford flicks on a driven pass from Moxey, unsurprisingly to no-one. Very little link-up between the front and back at the moment.

8:02pm

Game very spread out but no chances in the last few moments. Wanderers struggling to keep the ball in midfield.

7:58pm

Beckford is threaded through and looks to be odds-on to score. He got the ball stuck under his feet and by the time he got a shot on target, Musangu was able to block. Chance missed.

7:55pm

Liam Feeney seeing plenty of the ball early on. Whites fans getting behind him.

7:52pm

Meanwhile at the other end a long ball catches Moxey slightly out of position and Vicenti heads wide. Half chance.

7:51pm

Rob Hall has the first shot on goal after a decent run and cross from Feeney.

7:50pm

Wanderers first to settle. Fans in full voice early on.

7:47pm

7:44pm

Players coming out on to the pitch now.

7:26pm

The Bolton News:

Couple of hundred Wanderers fans here already - would expect plenty more on a day like this. Although hear it's £10 to get in. Quite steep IMHO.

7:16pm

Yes, so far the best thing to come out of pre-season has been the fact there have been no major injury problems. Fingers-crossed.

Let's hope Rochdale will not cripple any of our players. Come on you White Men!

7:13pm

Subs: Collis, Barry-Murphy, Allen, Raferty, Lancashire, Donnelly, Lund, Tanser, Logan, Henderson and two trialists...

7:12pm

Dale: Musangu, Bennett, Eastham, McGinty, Done, Hery, Cannon, Camps, Vicenti, Bunney, Rose.

7:11pm

And two players simply called Trialist. I assume they are Brazilian.

7:10pm

Ex-Wanderer Rhys Bennett in the Rochdale side.

7:09pm

The Bolton News:

Players warm-up. Shouldn't imagine that's a difficult task in this sweltering heat.

7:06pm

Music picking up now. Kaiser Chiefs.

"Wanderers to pick strong team for Rochdale friendly" lol

Ha - Been to plenty of these games where a team of ressies has been put out, though...

Why is the bolton news not asking serious questions of the board such as why the parachute payment has again not been used to strengthen the team with some potential promotion chasing signings such as the juke !
Our local paper needs to man up and start to question some decisions such as the direction Gartside has taken our club !

OR - you pay the debts you have accrued. Are you the type that hides bills under the bed??

6:51pm

As pointed out by one BWFC fan on Twitter, only one (Ream) of the starting line-up played for Wanderers in the Premier League. Two more (Riley, Vela) on the bench.

6:46pm

Usually great music here at Spotland. Not a great start - although I'd forgotten I knew all the words to "Boom! Shake the Room"

6:44pm

Subs: Fitzsimons, Sellers, Threlkeld, Bolger, Wilkinson, C Davies, Riley, Dervite, Vela

6:43pm

Very strong team, in fact: Lonergan, McNaughton, Mills, Ream, Moxey, Spearing, Medo, Danns, Feeney, Hall, Beckford

6:42pm

Hearing Freedman has named a strong side.... out in two mins.

6:41pm

The Bolton News:

New development squad coach - and BWFC registered player - Andy Hughes has also joined us...

6:35pm

The Bolton News:

Rochdale coach - and top bloke - Brian Barry-Murphy catching up with a fellow Irishman Curtis Fleming.

6:30pm

Always find pre-season games worth watching, though. Getting little scraps of information about the potential line up at Vicarage Road.

6:29pm

Or do you - like me - subscribe to the idea that it doesn't really matter until August 9?

6:29pm

Glorious day for a pre-season game. Wanderers started their pre-season well and it has been diminishing returns ever since - can they get things back on track today?

6:28pm

Good evening from a sun-kissed Spotland. Welcome to Matchday Live.

Eddie Davis has heavily invested in the academy... if you have been taking your kids there over the holidays to take part in some great coaching you will see the potential rewards of the future on offer,

Eddie Davis is a gentleman and a scholar who deserves to be spoken about with respect in the Whites quarter of Bolton. Without him over the years, no matter what anyone thinks of Gartside, Bolton would still be languishing in the lower half of the leagues... eg League Two.

Typical silly comeback, if we're so concerned about repaying debts I suggest we start with the vast amount we owe ED. You have to speculate to accumulate. No business can invest less and less and grow. A small investment of the parachute payment may well have reaped millions in return

Where has all the sky money gone and why wasn't a few million given to Sam who is still proving his worth in the prem. Because of PG pettiness this club of ours is sinking into the abyss. Youngsters need good players to bring them on not other teams throw aways. Long hard season ahead I hope they don,t go down again.

I not saying Eddie Davis is not a gent and what he has done for bolton wanderers is huge but he's not got a bottomless pit regarding my earlier comment I hear he's after getting out if gartside kept coming to you eating into your fortune how long would you keep stumping up the cash we were told by gartside we had to get promoted at first attempt then he changed it to the second attempt here we are now trying for third time lucky we've signed a few players this summer on free transfers but not actually payed for anyone so have we no cash or has Eddie said enough is enough personally I thank Eddie for what he has done for us and the money he's loaned us and don't forget it is just a loan but he ain't no Russian billionaire time bwfc started looking for an investor who could once again make bwfc great again
