ADAM Le Fondre comes to Wanderers’ rescue today with Neil Lennon hailing his as a “perfect” addition to his battle-weary squad.

International clearance has been granted for the 28-year-old goal-poacher to feature against Wolves, along with fellow loan arrival Rochinha.

It remains to be seen whether Le Fondre will play up front alone or paired alongside Eidur Gudjohnsen, Conor Wilkinson or the fit-again Zach Clough.

But Lennon believes his attributes could be the difference between Wanderers reviving their play-off chances or fading away into mid-table obscurity.

“He’s a good partner for anyone,” he told The Bolton News. “He’s clever, he will take the ball on and go beyond, which is something we lacked the other night at Rotherham United.

“We need someone to stretch (the opposition). We need a goalscorer, as every team in this division does if they are going to be successful.

“Adam is proven on that front and we’re hoping he’ll hit the ground running and settle quickly because he’s going to be vitally important in the second half of the season.”

Huddersfield Town were on the verge of announcing Le Fondre as a loan signing of their own before Wanderers made their interest known last week.

And Lennon believes geography played its part in the Stockport-born striker making the switch to this side of the Pennines from Cardiff City.

“We made a pitch to him and it obviously went well,” he said. “I think coming back to the North West was a big thing for him because he’s from here.”

Lennon is keen to add more attacking options before Monday’s transfer deadline and could have some cash to spend after loaning Jay Spearing out to Blackburn Rovers.

The manager also anticipates more negotiations over Chung-Yong Lee with Crystal Palace, with some reports suggesting Stoke City have also joined the London club in their chase for the South Korean star.

But it appears Burkina Faso international Alain Traore could be too complex a deal to settle in the next couple of days – and Lennon admitted yesterday his attention was focused on other targets for now.

“We do have other options,” he said. “A lot will depend on whether we can generate money in sales.

“It’s difficult at the moment because I know there will be a mad rush of phone calls between Saturday and Monday. We will be looking to get some business done.

“A lot of club want to do last minute business, as we do, and I think a few things will get done.

“These things take time and it’s interesting because the longer you leave it, the price goes down, and the wages go down, believe it or not.

“You have to be patient. While we would all like to have an influx of players in, you also have to think about the business side of things as well.

“There is still an interest (in Traore) no question. But how long can Lorient wait on us is another thing. There are two sides to the deal.”
