THREE Bolton League clubs were dumped out of the Lancashire Knockout at the second round stage on Sunday.

Farnworth Social Circle came the closest to progressing when they faced off against Norden.

The Central Lancashire League Premier Division title holders opened the scoring with Simon Harman who hit 78 and Ash Gowers who struck 55.

Chris Barrow did his best to limit the score with bowling figures of 4-25 but Norden still finished on 192-8.

Tim Rees led the reply with the bat scoring 76 and Tim Barrow added 33 as the Piggott Park side were looking good on 157-3.

However, when Chris Hartley (6-28) picked up the ball Social Circle collapsed as he took five consecutive wickets for zero runs to dismiss the hosts for 173.

Bradshaw pushed the current Lancashire KO holders Ormskirk right to the wire with a spirited batting performance.

Professional Kamran Younis (39), Phil Dickinson (38no), Rob Hardman (44) and Anthony Jones (24) helped the Bolton side post a healthy 209-7.

Opener Michael Jones (61) led the reply with the bat for Ormskirk and John Armstrong chipped in with 44. Younis and Tom Liversidge took two wickets apiece as the overs began to expire but the Liverpool and District side squeezed over the line with one over remaining.

Controversy surrounded Heaton’s home defeat to Walsden of the Central Lancashire League.

The visitors set a tough target with Nick Barker (63), Umesh Karunaratne (62) and Joe Gale (44no) all scoring high to post 231-4.

And Imran Mirza was leading Heaton’s reply hitting 40 before he was dismissed by the umpire for a catch behind after hitting the ball into the ground.

Haroon Farhat continued the response scoring 69 but the wind was blown out well and truly out of the Heaton sail and they sank for 173.
