DAVID Wheater has not travelled to Austria with the Wanderers squad as he aims to rid himself completely of hamstring problems that ruined last season.
The defender has stayed behind to work with the Whites medical team in an effort to make sure he is 100 per cent fit for the start of the new campaign.
Wheater played just 21 times last season, his last appearance coming against Reading in the same game that Zach Clough and Kevin McNaughton also picked up long-term injuries.
The 28-year-old is rated highly within the Wanderers camp but his fitness problems in recent years have prevented him reaching his very best form.
Wilson Palacios has also been left out of the trip after failing to impress in a week-long trial.
The midfielder had also suffered with hamstring issues after a long time on the sidelines with Stoke City last season.
The 26-man party that has traveled to Austria is as follows: Ben Amos, Max Clayton, Zach Clough, Neil Danns, Mark Davies, Dorian Dervite, Stephen Dobbie, Liam Feeney, Ross Fitzsimons, Rob Hall, Emile Heskey, Medo Kamara, Andy Kellett, Gary Madine, Niall Maher, Dean Moxey, Derik Osede, Darren Pratley, Jay Spearing, Quade Taylor, Oscar Threlkeld, Liam Trotter, Filip Twardzik, Josh Vela, Tom Walker, Hayden White.
