A TURTON School pupil is causing a stir locally as a multi-talented sports starlet.

Daisy Mullan has just been selected again for Lancashire Under-13s cricket team but her success does not stop there as the 13-year-old was named on the county’s emerging players programme which helps some of the area’s brightest young stars.

She has been juggling the bat with footballs as she is also a promising footballer and plays for Academy Juniors where she won the West Lancashire Girls U12s League Cup and who were also runners-up in the league.

But her sporting success does not end there as she helped her school team to win a hockey tournament.

Proud dad Chris says his daughter is determined to keep her feet on the ground and enjoying her sports.

He said: “She hopes to go all the way in football or cricket.

“One of her coaches has told us that she would have no problem in getting a football scholarship in America.

“Then her Lancashire cricket ones believe they have someone special.

“Her coaches have been great at school, club and county level in spotting her talent and helping her progress.”

The batswoman has come a long way in the past three years.

Chris said: “We live near Bradshaw’s ground and she went along to a few training sessions.

“Her Eagley Juniors coach Chris Foley told us that she could really bowl and catch.

“But I was a bit hesitant because she has been playing football for five or six years.

“Anyway some of the coaches wanted her to become a member after seeing her training and she has done well representing district and county teams."

Despite being an impressive bowler, Daisy has also proved to be an all-rounder as among her highlights include hitting 62 for Lancashire and also 55 against Yorkshire.

Coach Mike Buckley said: “I think Daisy will go a long way

“I think she is as good as Kate Cross at her age and I have spoke to a few people and is on the right track."
