ZACH Clough has turned down a £2million move to Bristol City, The Bolton News understands.
Clough held talks with the Robins on Sunday and was offered a big-money contract to sign at Ashton Gate.
But it is believed the 20-year-old did not feel it was the right move at such an early stage in his career and opted to stick with the club he has represented since the age of eight.
Wanderers fans are delighted at the news the club’s biggest playing asset will remain on the books to aid the relegation cause.
It looked grim at the start of the week, however, as it appeared as if his sale would be necessary for Wanderers to pay their upcoming bills and avoid going into administration.
Clough came off the bench in Tuesday night’s 3-2 defeat against Sheffield Wednesday and received a standing ovation from the travelling supporters as he warmed up.
He is expected to shrug off a minor hip problem to face Nottingham Forest this weekend.
