MARK Davies’s move to Sheffield Wednesday looks dead in the water after a bizarre row between the two clubs ended in an angry phone call to the Football League.

The midfielder was poised to sign a two-and-a-half-year contract at Hillsborough yesterday until an argument developed over his medical history which eventually went public.

Davies was withdrawn from the Wanderers squad at the last minute on Tuesday night after agreeing personal terms with the South Yorkshire club.

He was due to take a medical but advisors to the board at Hillsborough urged them not to go ahead with the transfer on Wednesday – prompting Wanderers to explore their legal options.

“Sheffield Wednesday have said medical reasons but the player has not had a medical with them and they have not had any of his medical records," said Davies’s agent Will Salthouse, explaining the reasons for the move’s collapse.

It is understood that Bolton contacted the Football League to voice their disapproval but after the deal briefly flickered back into life yesterday, it now appears Wednesday have switched targets.

Davies trained at Euxton but could now seek to resurrect a move to Fulham, who have also expressed a strong interest in signing the 27-year-old playmaker.

He is, however, expected to be involved in the squad to face Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Wanderers did announce one departure with the news that Medo Kamara has had his contract mutually terminated.

The Sierra Leone international midfielder was signed for £750,000 by Dougie Freedman in January 2013 and was one of the highest-earning players on the books at the Macron Stadium.

And though he featured regularly under the Scot in his first year in English football, the former Partizan Belgrade ball-winner was ignored completely when Neil Lennon inherited the post.

Medo failed to make a single appearance under the Northern Irishman and has been training for several weeks on his own.

The 28-year-old is now tipped to return to Israel, where he enjoyed a successful loan spell with Maccabi Haifa last year.

Writing on his official Twitter account, Medo said goodbye to Wanderers this afternoon.

“Wanted to say thanks to the fans, the staff, the staff, my team-mates and everyone else at the club for making my time at @officialBWFC so special,” he said.

“I am going to miss this place. I wish the club the best of luck in the future and hope they can return to the Premier League soon.”
