WANDERERS vice chairman Brett Warburton says the club are keen to work alongside the newly-formed Supporters’ Trust.

In what is the first comment to come out of the club at board level since the trust was officially registered on January 15, Warburton stated that the fans’ group was being “wholly embraced”.

His endorsement lends some credence to the idea that the BWFCST will have a voice in the future running of the club.

“We are delighted to work with, and support, the Bolton Wanderers Supporters Trust,” said Warburton on the official website.

“It is important for supporters to focus on the Trust so that the club can have a dialogue with a single organisation which represents the large number of supporters.

“If the Supporters Trust can bring the club and supporters closer together then that is something we will wholly embrace.”

An online petition signed by more than 1,400 fans was launched on Friday asking for the club to engage with the BWFCST.

The trust itself then issued a statement on Saturday morning to say that it was satisfied with the level of communication it had received at board level.
