TURTON boss Neil Johnson hailed the impact of new arrival Kingsley Williams after he netted a hat-trick in a 4-2 win at Mill Hill St Peters on Saturday.

Williams has played for Sheffield United and Sydney Olympic and also had a trial at Hartlepool United and his class showed with a treble for the West Lancashire League Division One leaders.

It did not all go to plan from the start, however, with the hosts breaking the deadlock after just 20 seconds when Gary Holt rose to head home from a needlessly conceded free kick.

After that, though, Turton took control and Williams netted his first via a deflection on the half hour mark before Ally Dickson completed the turnaround before half time.

The weather made life tough for both sides at the start of the second half but with 20 minutes to go, Williams netted his second for Turton.

The visitors switched off and were pegged back to 3-2 within a minute when Rob Smith scored for Mill Hill.

But Williams sealed the points with arguably the best goal of the game 10 minutes from time.

Boss Johnson said: "It was a good win for us, particularly with three first-teamers away on a stag do and Steve Fitton missing with an ankle injury.

"That is one of the reasons we brought Kingsley in and he was superb for us.

"He is a friend of one of our lads and it was great to get him on board.

"You could tell on Saturday that he has played at a much higher level.

"It might have been a different story, though, after we conceded after 20 seconds.

"We had said to the lads beforehand to not give any silly free kicks away because they have good set-piece delivery and that is exactly what happened.

"Credit to the boys, we controlled the game after that and it could have been more than 2-1 at half time."

Turton were away again yesterday at Hurst Green looking to chalk off another game on the way to what they hope will be a title-winning campaign.

And Johnson says the position at the summit is strong.

He added: "It's going very well and we are in a strong position now.

"But we don't want to get complacent because an off day could let someone else back in.

"It really is one game at a time for us but I think we have a bit more about us this season with a stronger squad.

"Twelve months ago without four first-teamers we would have struggled but we are stronger now."

Elsewhere in Division One on Saturday, Ladybridge won 2-0 at Hurst Green thanks to goals from Sam Parkinson and Phil Parkinson.

But Tempest United lost 2-1 on home soil to high-flying Burscough Richmond despite Phil Howard's goal.

Eagley saw their Premier Division game at Longridge Town abandoned on Saturday, while Bolton County lost 2-1 at home to Furness Cavaliers in Division Two, Kieran Hennersay with the hosts' goal.

There was better news for CMB who beat Millom 1-0 thanks to Will Archer's strike and Stoneclough won 5-1 at Swarthmoor Social thanks to goals from Christian Preston, Cameron Peeling, Jason Perry, Chris Canhalis and Michael Hall.
